Text Box: Learning Tango and partners - some snippets of information

Pilatango is not a matchmaker - it provides useful “tools” to find good Argentine Tango dance partners.

Partners need to work together understanding and enjoying the surprise and response of improvised behaviour – perhaps it is an important component of sharing good communication.

Maybe words are not enough and physical action is required to communicate feelings more effectively. Therapists use Argentine Tango do just that for many ailments and personal development,

Argentine Tango provides a medium with special rhythms and beats - where gentle and stimulating body movements can be led and followed. The improvised moves and embellishments provide “ icing on the cake” and bring smiles to the dancer.

Our focus is to teach Argentine Tango skills to individuals. It is an improvised dance and one that brings together two independent but skilful dancers, who may not have ever danced together and who are able to experience moments of magic.

“Learning” Argentine Tango requires no partner. It requires self discipline, good posture, flexibility and technical knowledge – preparing body and mind to please a partner. All medically known to remove stress and become confident.

Each dancer must know the opposite role to social dancing - i.e. women need to lead and men need to follow

All dancers seek a partner that is able to dance well. The better you dance, more are the offers that will come your way.

This activity/hobby automatically invites you into the Argentine Tango communities throughout the world, where you can widen your friendship with like minded people. You will never be without friends.

It may be uncomfortable for many to pair up with the same sex to practice dance techniques/moves – but the origin of most dances is same sex !!

Most tribal dances are same sex. Same sex is seen in sports and games –e.g. rugby it shows players and audiences accepting close contact teams – whether men or women. Same sex in Martial Arts uses many Tango or Pilates related moves.

Pilatango encourages safe and comfortable tactile fun by improving our bodies and minds to communicate, share, lead and follow in a considerate way
